March 16th – Trends in Translation: Nancy Naomi Carlson

Join us for the latest installment of our Trends in Translation talks with our special guest Nancy Naomi Carlson. This intimate roundtable will take place Monday March 16, at 6PM, in Klapper Hall, Room 710.

About our speaker:

Nancy Naomi Carlson is the recipient of a literature translation fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as grants from the Maryland Arts Council and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County. Author of three award-winning non-translated titles as well as *Stone Lyre: Poems of Rene Char,* her translations of Abdourahman Waberi and Suzanne Dracius are forthcoming this spring from Seagull Books (distributed by the University of Chicago Press) and Tupelo Press, respectively. She directs the graduate school counseling program at the University of the District of Columbia.

This event is free and open to the public, so feel to invite anyone you know who’s interested in craft of translation. Also, a light dinner will be served during the talk.
