Welcome to the Queens College Department of English website! Our core mission is to prepare students to contribute to our complex global society by helping them become astute readers and citizens able to critically engage with literary texts and their cultural contexts. On this site you can find information about the wide range of courses and programs we offer, such as English 110 and other First-Year Writing courses, our English major requirements, the Writing Minor, our MA and MFA programs, and the numerous readings, workshops, and conferences we host.

Writers at Queens: The QC Reading Series is a literary series for the entire Queens College community, both graduate and undergraduate students, celebrating the identity and creativity of Queens as a richly multilingual, culturally pluralistic community, one of the most diverse in the United States. Writing Prizes
Every Spring semester, the English department accepts submissions for the annual Queens College Writing Prizes. Prizes are awarded at a ceremony honoring recipients. Learn more here.
